Today we made a delicious fresh dessert out of strawberries and our everyday favourite, curd. The recipe was my own idea and i have to say it was surprisingly good. Perfect for the coming sunny spring afternoons.

Strawberry-Curd Dessert

ingrendiets:
250 g curd
200 g cream
50 gsugar
1 pkg vanillasugar
400 g strawberries
8 chocolate buiscuits

preperation:
Put the cream to a boal and whip it until it's stiff. Then add curd, sugar and vanillasugar to the cream and mix it properly. Crash the buiscuits to small pieces. If you use strawberries from the freezer (like we did in this time of the year) melt them in a pan and let them cool down. Build layers of the strawberries, cream-curd mix and buiscuits in a nice glass in any order you like the best :). Safe some of the strawberries to the top of the dessert glass.

1001 nights in Platyz

Tonight we wanted to try an Arabic style sweet couscous, what we once tasted in a Czech tea house, "cajovna". It's really easy and fast to make and the spices give a nice, exotic flavor to it.

Couscous Mandarin

ingredients:
150ml water
50g sugar
250g couscous
50g butter
500g curd
250g mandarins (sweetened, put of can)
1 tsp cinnamon
50g nuts
50g raisins

preperation:
First boil the water, take the pot from the heat and let the couscous stay in the water for 2 minutes. Then mix it with 50g butter and wait 3 more minutes. Add 250g of curd, small mandarin pieces, the raisins and spices and mix again properly. Serve it in small cups with the rest of the curd, nuts and cinnamon on top. Suitable while drinking tea or smoking water pipe :)

Popey in the Platyz

Yesterday we decided to give spinach a new chance in our lifes. This great, iron and vitamin c giving plant is kinda missing in our everyday diet, although, cooked right, it's deliciouse. So we used it in two really easy recipes. The first one was "cheese/spinach bruschetta" the second "spinach quiche". so here we go...

Cheese/Spinach Bruschetta

ingredients:
4 ciabatta breads
200g cheese (we used feta)
1 onion
4 pieces of garlic
butter
2 tomatos
salt and pepper
450 g spinach

preperation:
it's actually a very simplified bruschetta recipe. u cut the breads in halfs, butter them, cut the garlic and the tomatos into pieces and put them aswell on the breads. cook the spinach in 50 ml hot water. after it's cooked put it on the breads and top them with slices of cheese. then u bake everything in the preheated oven (ca. 180°C) for about 10 minutes. ...buon appetito!

Spinach Quiche

dough:
250 g flour
1 tsp backing powder
1 egg
150 g butter
tsp salt

filling:
450g spinach
1 onion
4 pieces of garlic

125g cream
10g butter

topping:
1 egg
125 cream
muscat, salt, pepper and sweet paprika
100 g cheese (we used feta)

RUNEBERG'S TART'S

Hello everybody,
today I proudly present to you our first recipe, the famous finnish Runeberg's tart

Runeberg's tart got it's name from the finnish poet Johan Ludvig Runeberg (1804-1877) who, according to the legend, enjoyed the tart with punch on every breakfast. Runeberg's tarts are typically eaten only in Finland on Runebers birthday on 5th of february. Popular legend tells that Runeberg's wife, Fredrika, created the tart. Her recipe book from the 1850s has the tart's recipe.

Dough
200 g butter
2 dl sugar
2 eggs
0,5 dl milk
2 dl grounded almonds
2 dl flour
1tsp baking powder
mandel aroma

Topping
1 dl powder sugar
little pit of water
rasberry jam

Whip the soft butter and sugar together. Add the eggs and milk into the butter-sugar foam. Mix together dry ingredients and fold them to the batter. Fill paper baking cups with the batter and bake at 200 degrees C for 20-30 minutes. Make a thick icing from powder sugar and water and pipe it around the rasberry jam on the top of each tart. Let the icing set and then serve with a cup of coffee or tea (or punch).
